The BC curriculum feels so different than from when I was in school. It is still a very colonial education system, but the last changes make me excited to be a part of it; teaching and learning. The curriculum is not only about academics, but the core competencies are about helping students to learn soft skills to use in their day-to-day, for the rest of their life. In every subject and every grade, the big ideas help to guide your teaching and learning, with the curricular competencies and content to better help teachers guide students’ learning. This curriculum will support a safe and effective classroom. I will be able to teach the true history of Canada, and support reconciliation.
